ADHD/504/IEP Supports That May Help at School or Home (when age appropriate)
These are just suggestions, but may not be for everyone. Children (and adults) are sensory seeking in many ways. When kids do floor time at school, consider allowing them to have a weighted blanket or lay on belly or sit on their spiky cushion.

I really love the “Wise Owl.” It helps the kids to PAUSE and think through what they are doing in the moment (when their impulsivity is driving them). Wise Owl can be used as language to support your child too.

Declarative Language Handbook by Linda Murphy
I believe this was a game changing book when I read it. It makes so much sense, but it is so easy to just give direction when we have such busy lives. When we engage the child’s EF it helps them to build and create the structure and thoughts they need to mature and grow!!
ADHD 2.0 by Dr. Hallowell is a great book for adults w/ ADHD and to understand child w/ ADHD. Dr. Hallowell is a well known psychiatrist, author, and ADHD’er and has a son w/ ADHD.
